At the Club meeting held today 26th August three important matters were raised.

1. It is time to elect the Primary and Deputy Regional organisers for the Blackpool Region. Russ and I have both agreed to stand again if the members wish. However, should anyone want to stand for either position we are both happy to hand over the “baton” . Like many things in life an injection of new blood and new ideas can often produce improvements. I have attached a proforma at the foot of this article which can be used to nominate and second any person you wish to propose. I need to submit the nominees by the 1st of October so,  e-mail any nominees to me so we can finalise the matter at the September meeting.

2. A few of the members have expressed concern over the time taken to get served both food and drink at the Fairfield Arms. As such it has been decided to try the De Vere hotel in Blackpool for the Sunday meeting to be held on the 30th of September. This is linked to the recent visit by Dave Hothersall and myself where the management of the Hotel asked if we would consider holding our monthly meetings there. Meet up at the Hotel at the usual time of 11:30 onwards, and I will inform the hotel we are coming. I suggest we initially meet in the coffee lounge on the right as you enter the hotel. Please can as many as possible attend this meeting so we can see if it is to become our future meeting venue

I intend to hold the evening meeting on September at the 13th at the Fairfield as usual.

3. It is time we thought about and booked Christmas Lunch. I think the best date is Sunday the 16th of December, and again a few people suggested a change of venue. I think a return to the Ship Inn at Elswick would be good as all the comments I had when we last dined there were favourable. I will contact them and get a menu which I will post on the website. I will ask for attendees at the September meeting.
