3 Sisters ~ 15th April Round 1 of Longton 2012 MC Championship
It was a pleasant suprise when Jim told me a week before he event that he was going to bring along his new race car for it’s first competitve event. I thought it would be good to see the differences between the two cars.
It was a sunny but cold dry day and the event was well supported with 83 entrants. We managed two practice and one timed runs prior to lunch and a further three timed runs post lunch. Apart from the first run after lunch my times reduced with each attempt, cullminating in my last run of 55.48. which was 1.68 seconds improvement on my best run last year.
Jim also managed to improve his times on all runs but one and he finished with a time of 53.9seconds and beat his last years best time by 3.21 seconds. Jim’s FTD also beat mine by some 1.58 seconds. That means I still own the “Captain Slow T shirt”. How about someone else joining in to see if they can win the T shirt off me?.
It was a really good day out and neither car missed a beat, though Jim did use the excuse on his first run of his tripple webbers over fuelling. I think he did it to give me a false sense of hope!
My Highlights were:-
Achieveing a time in the 55′s which was my target. Beating a beautiful Ford RS 1800 (It won prize for best presented car) and I also beat the car I would most like to have taken home which was a race spec Austin Healy 3000.
