3 Sisters ~ 9th September Round 3 of Longton 2012 MC Championship
The weather was hot and sunny and track conditions were perfect for fast times. There were 97 entries in various classes, but still only Jim and I in Class 3c.
Our times were reducing with every run until Jim’s car developed a misfire and ran poorly. We thought we had sorted it over the lunch break when Jim found a broken plug lead and the first run after lunch was Jim’s quickest in a time of 86.83 seconds, this beat his time last year by 7.03 seconds! a massive improvement.
I had a good day and gained a lot of confidence in the handling and grip of the car and finished with a best time of 87.03 which was just 0.02 seconds slower than Jim and an improvement on last year of 6.12 seconds. I think my improvement came mostly from changing up gears earlier rather than hanging on for the last 500 rpm in the gear below. I think also the fact that Heath sorted my rear brakes helped in braking harder and later.
We are now both starting to mix it with the class 3b cars which are modified special production saloons up to 2000cc, and I for one can’t wait to get to Anglesey for the 2 days in October on the National and full race circuits. I will say it again boys you should have a go in your TVR’s in the standard road car class the cost is £100 for the day and you will learn so much about your and your cars ability whilst having brilliant fun with some really nice people.
